DMCA counter notice: what happens when a takedown is disputed
A takedown is not always the end of the story. The person whose upload was removed can push back with a counter notice, and the rules from that point are strict.

It states that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification. Common grounds include holding a licence, owning the work, or the use being covered by fair use.
What happens next
The host forwards the counter notice to the rights holder. If no legal action is filed within the statutory window, the host may restore the content.

Check the claim honestly before escalating. If the counter notice is baseless and the work is clearly yours, gather your evidence: registration, publication date, original files and the report history showing the same uploader mirroring your work.
